Why new head shots or photos for my website?

There are several reasons why you might want to take new headshots, here they are:

1.  Updating your professional image: Your headshot is often the first impression people have of you, especially in professional settings like LinkedIn or business websites. Updating your headshot can help you present a more current and professional image.

2.  Reflecting changes in your appearance: If you’ve changed your hairstyle, lost or gained weight, or made other significant changes to your appearance since your last headshot, taking a new one can help ensure that your headshot accurately reflects your current look.

3.  Showing personality: Headshots can also be an opportunity to showcase your personality and convey a sense of who you are to potential clients or employers. Updating your headshot can help you put your best foot forward and make a strong impression.

4.  Staying competitive: In today’s competitive job market, having a high-quality and up-to-date headshot can set you apart from other candidates and increase your chances of being noticed by recruiters or hiring managers.

What about clothing?

The clothing you wear in your headshot can have a big impact on the overall look and feel of the photo. Here I have gathered some tips for choosing clothing for your headshot:

1.  Keep it simple: In general, it’s best to choose simple, solid-colored clothing that won’t distract from your face. Avoid busy patterns or clothing with large logos or graphics.

2.  Stick to neutral colors: Neutral colors like black, white, gray, and navy are always a safe bet for headshots. These colors are classic and won’t go out of style.

3.  Dress appropriately for your industry: Depending on your profession, you may want to choose clothing that reflects the dress code of your workplace or industry. For example, if you work in a corporate setting, a suit and tie or a blazer and dress pants would be appropriate.

4.  Consider the neckline: Choose a neckline that flatters your face and body type. V-necks and scoop necks can be flattering for many people, while turtlenecks or high-necked tops can make your neck look shorter.

5.  Pay attention to fit: Make sure your clothing fits well and isn’t too tight or too loose. You want to look polished and put-together in your headshot and make sure you’re clean and that the clothes are ironed before the session.
