I think I just discovered Åre. A beautiful village in Northern Sweden or actually not Northern Sweden. Åre is almost exactly in the middle of Sweden, half way to the end of this huge, long country. So last weekend I had a weekend in beautiful Åre with my sister and four other friends.
The day we arrived started fabulously good with a nice After Ski after our long train ride, we picked up our rented skis at Åre Skidsport (great service), bought our ski passes online through SkiStar, dinner and early bed time to wake up early the day after. Not too early but we were in the slops at around 09.00.

Amazing weather
The weather was amazing and we went up to the Åreskutan with the scooter and checked out the view. My sister was a bit hesitating but I said, common, let’s go now, while the weather is nice. I can tell you that was a really good decision due to what happened a few hours later.

From the top to the bottom
After our visit to the top we went down to meet up one of our friends to continue even further down to the VM 8 chair lift. On our way down we stopped at this little cottage that I fell in love with and took about 30 photos of it. So lovely with all the snow, the sun, the clouds and the place. My sister and our friend waited patiently for me. My sister is an angel, she always wait for me when I want to take photos.

Another cottage in beautiful Åre
Yes, how many pics can you take out of one object? Just to change the angels and you get a lot of different pictures.
Here’s another cottage too… 🙂

A broken arm
We finally reached our destination, the VM 8 chairlift with 8 seats. My sister was going to be polite as she alway is and offered the people behind us to come with us in our chair. The people turned down her invite and when she was sliding on to the rolling band she lost her balance and fell on her left hand wrist… It was a fact… the hand wrist was broken. OH NO!!! 13.30. Thank you and good bye Åre.
No, not really but we had to go the the local clinic. Very professional doctors I must say. They really knew how to handle a broken arm in a ski resort. That was probably the most common thing they did every day. It all went fast and with no fuss. After 2 hours we were home again.
The weekend continued with after ski, dinners and I went skiing with our friends and I also met my cousin in the slop one day. Lucky me!

The weekend in beautiful Åre came to an end
The last day we had to check out from our tiny apartment at Tott Åre at 10.00. Super location for great ski in and ski out and if you have strong ski legs there’s no problem to walk back and forth from the village.
That Sunday we just walked around in the village, checking out the small boutiques, we tried the coffee in different cafes, and had some lunch too. We also went visiting our friends who stayed at the hotel Granen.

What a nice and cosy place. Situated half way up to Tott Åre. When we went there to see our friends I just had to stop to capture a few photos of the Åre Bergbana.

Fika at Åre Kafferosteri
Coffee and a sandwich, so delicious and all home made. Yummy!

Snowy pictures from my beautiful weekend in Åre
I would go back any day and if you would like me to capture your wedding or maybe your company with your colleagues don’t hesitate to contact me here. I love skiing and I have been a ski guide in the alps and to ski and take photographs at the same time is a dream for me. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my photos from Åre and it might inspire you to visit Åre one day. I will definitely go back next year again.
Cheers!
