On the 30th of March, I celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday. It was a small and corona safe, dinner party. During the fantastic dinner, one of the other guests, Sofia, told me that she and her husband were getting married. Great I thought! And suddenly she asked me if I would be able to be the photographer at their coming wedding in Djursholm. I was so flattered and excited that I was their chosen photographer and all wedding related questions came to mind that I wanted to ask them. The first one being, when are you getting married? I was chocked when she told me that they would be getting married on the 11th or 17th of March, only 2 weeks later! Only 2 weeks to the wedding
Many brides plan their wedding for years, Sofia is not your typical bride, everything was chosen last minute and it turned out fantastic. Sofia is a lovable and kind, one may even say the perfect bride. Her spontaneous planning ended up with amazing and hilarious memories that I will remember but so will the wedding couple and their guests.
Time to do some planning
After a few days, the date was set for the 17th of April. We now had two weeks to make a mood board, agree on picture locations, expectations and so many more questions. As the big day started approaching there were still a lot of things which were not ready. Sofia had decided to design and make her own bridal dress. Only 12 days before the wedding in Djursholm it was not done, their wedding rings – not bought, not until two days before the wedding.

On the Monday before the wedding, Sofia and I met at Villa Pauli to check the location, the rooms, the light and the dining room. Whilst we were there, Sofia choose the menu for the wedding lunch and she did a quick wine tasting. That same week she chose flowers and what wedding cake she wanted. The following days we were on the phone almost every day to plan for the wedding. We had to make sure every detail would be perfect. I loved bouncing ideas with her and allowing myself to further understand what she wanted.
The big day came and at 10.00 I was ready in the “Palm room” at Villa Pauli, documenting the wedding couple getting ready. Some people are constantly busy with their job, Johan is one of them. He got ready before Sofia so he went out in the lobby to get work done. Here he’s at the computer before the ceremoni.

Then we arrived to Djursholm’s Chapel, their family was already there. The ceremony went very smooth however, one and a half year old Czar wanted with his mom and dad. He was very cute waddling around trying to get his parents attention during the ceremony.
Back at Villa Pauli the guests got Champagne before lunch and the wedding couple and I went outside to do some wedding portraits.
Normally there’s a lovely terass in front of the Villa Pauli but at the moment they are rebuilding a new terass. Therefore, the outdoor portraits were taken down to the sea and other photos by the lighthouse. It was early afternoon and the sun was almost right above us. It’s not always the easiest when trying to plan a wedding day and ensuring that the lighting will be well for the portrait photos, but as you can see the unplanned lighting did not bother us.
I love small weddings
As a photographer I was circling around in these beautiful rooms capturing the wedding couple, the kids, their parents and their friends. Working like this doesn’t really feel like a job. I love it and I felt like one of the guests.
Corona is hindering us from doing a lot of things these days and a lot of weddings are postponed. I was booked for a wedding last year which is now postponed until next year, 2022, but it is worth waiting for. These small weddings are just as lovely and important as the bigger weddings. You can always have the party later when Corona is under control or even gone!
