Wedding in Stockholm City

Weddings

Coming from India 6 month ago, to have a wedding in Stockholm city and to work in Sweden must be one of the most cultural shock ever. Tarun told me he loves Sweden and Stockholm, more structure and less people. At this moment, at the Swedish Royal Palace there were nobody!

Wedding friendly street…

This is really a true love story

Chandni came to Sweden for her second time in their relationship 5 days before the wedding. She had just received her final medical exam from the University, they got their wedding certificate and they booked me as their wedding photographer that same day! WOW!

17.10-17.17 Ceremony – YAY! Congratulations!

Corona wedding in Stockholm city

Due to the Corona situation no one except for the wedding couple is allowed to enter the City Hall so I stod patiently and waited outside and here they were. Their families are in India and Chandni was only allowed to leave India and enter Sweden because she was getting married. She’s also in transit to go to Canada to work as a doctor.

Wedding in Stockholm city

It was a very cold day and with some sun, snow, wind and hail. Just like an ordinary April day in Sweden.

We started with the photos around the City Hall and then we continued to the Old Town by buss.

With this photo (above) I came as #4 in the Swedish Photographic Champion Ship for weddings. 🙂

Wedding in Stockholm city

Stockholm City Hall is beautiful for wedding portraits. I would love to be there with you on your wedding day. Small intimate weddings are really beautiful. Just the two of you.

Let’s take the bus to the Old Town

Yes, by buss. 🙂 Two stations away and we could walk around in the small alleys in the beautiful Old Town of Stockholm. Have you been to Mårten Trotzig Gränd? The most narrow street in Stockholm.

Sightseeing and wedding at the same time

We passed by the birth house of Carl Larsson, a very cute but closed cafe, Under Kastanjen at Brända Tomten, the Järnpojke – “little boy who looks at the moon” in the backyard of the Finnish church at Slottsbacken.

Stortorget and more alleys.

After all these pretty places we had seen and photographed we had to warm us up with at hot cup of chocolate. As I have been living abroad myself for 20 years I’m very curious about other people who comes to live in Sweden from abroad. Tarun and Chandni told me their whole story and I found it very fascinating and in this time of Corona a little bit incredible. They had actually met more over internet than in real life.

A hot chocolate to warm up a little bit

Continuing our walk towards the Royal Castle and our final destination Kungsträdgården we passed a few more lovely places like Västra Långgatan, Gåsgränd and the beautiful door of The Parliament of Stockholm.

Wedding in Stockholm city at famous buildings

Arriving to the blooming flowers of Kungsträdgården was a bliss, a photographer’s dream. This was actually not planned when we decided where to take photos in the city but as we spoke we both had a wish to go there and so we did. Tarun had some blisters on his heals from his new wedding shoes but I had some band aid for him in my camera bag and he was suddenly a happy non limping handsome groom again. 😉

What to say?

We could have stayed for hours I think but it was getting dark and even colder. Their last wish for a photo was this one: A Lime shot.

I think that this couple got the very best from Stockholm and Sweden during this day. All the beautiful places in their wedding photos. Memories to treasure forever.

The conclusion of this wedding for me, was that I now can give myself a new title: “Photographer and Stockholm guide – All in one.” Maybe this should be my new thing. I have been a tourist guide in the French Alps so why not. From now on “I do elopement weddings in Stockholm City Hall including a guided tour in Stockholm city and your wedding photos.” 🙂

Have a nice day!
